Steak-frites à volonté? Avec plaisir!

Steak and fries with a delicious sauce is one of my favorite dishes to order in a French bistro or restaurant. So, when I discovered a place offering unlimited steak and fries for a steal at 25 Euros (about $30), I couldn't resist! Relais de l'Entrecôte, here we come! 😊

My first visit was in 2022, and I returned this past January in 2024. Both meals were a delight. The menu is simple but perfect: salad, bread, steak, and fries. Pair it with a fabulous red wine and finish with a delightful dessert, and you have true perfection! The only thing you need to do is let them know how you like your meat cooked.

A Quick Note on Ordering Steak in France: French preferences lean toward the rare side. When ordering, you'll choose between “saignant” (rare), “à point” (medium), or “bien cuit” (well done). French “well done” is closer to American “medium,” so if you prefer your steak cooked through, go for “bien cuit.”

This beloved restaurant often has lines out the door, so arrive early in the evening or be prepared to wait. Is it worth it? Absolutely! No matter your steak preference, it will be juicy, tender, and paired with a sauce to die for. Use it on the steak, as an impromptu sauce for the fries, or to sop up with crusty baguettes once your plate is clean from your first (or third) serving!

Save Room for Dessert! Our party of three ordered a profiterole, a cream puff pastry with vanilla ice cream, and hot fudge sauce. Ours came with extra vanilla bean ice cream and lovely chunks of meringues. Pure perfection!

Next time you're in Paris, stop by this fabulous restaurant and let me know what you think!

Bon appétit! Beth
